SASSY'S REVIEW

❖

Savannah’s Temptation begins with Savannah learning more about her powers and training to understand what she can do. As she gets pulled deeper into the mysteries surrounding Astoria and Carnal Sanctuary, the paranormal story brings in immortals, danger, and hidden history. I wanted more of that storyline, but the sexual content takes up so much space that this felt more like paranormal erotica with romantic elements than a fantasy romance. More room for the mystery, Savannah’s growth, and the relationships would have made it a five-star read.

After finishing Savannah’s Awakening, I desperately wanted more time with the interesting paranormal story buried underneath all that sex. Well, apparently somebody heard me, because Savannah’s Temptation gave me more of the story I’d been waiting for.

Let’s be clear: the residents of Carnal Sanctuary have NOT suddenly discovered celibacy. 😂 This is still a very explicit book, and that five-pepper rating is well earned. The difference is that there’s a stronger storyline running alongside all the spice. Savannah gets more room to grow as she trains and learns about her abilities. Having extraordinary power and knowing what the hell to do with it are two very different things.

The supernatural world also gets more room to breathe, with more mystery, danger, and history surrounding Astoria and the Sanctuary. The relationships have more going on than attraction, too. Savannah sometimes struggles with jealousy and has to figure out where she fits with Roman and the others. I liked seeing her become more open about her feelings and grow closer to the people around her. There’s loyalty in the way they support her training and come together as danger builds around Astoria. Roman is still grieving Ansel, and Savannah feels that loss too. Those quieter moments of care and affection, especially between Savannah and Candice, helped the relationships feel more meaningful to me.

Even with those elements, I wouldn’t describe this as a fantasy romance. The frequent sexual thoughts, fantasies, and scenes often take center stage. At times, they interrupted the mystery I was eager to follow. I enjoy spice, so clearly, a five-pepper rating isn’t going to scare me away. 😂 I just wanted more character development and more of the story itself alongside all the spice.

There were things that pulled me from the story and irritated me, like the repetition. Savannah often circles back to how attractive everyone is and how much she wants them, and the book revisits physical descriptions and thoughts we’ve already heard. Yeah, yeah, I got it—she’s surrounded by gorgeous immortals, and her hormones are in overdrive. 🙄 After a while, that started to frustrate me because the repeated details slowed the pacing and distracted me from the mystery and character moments I wanted more of. Trimming some of them would have helped the story move along and given the paranormal plot more room to shine.

WOULD I RECOMMEND SAVANNAH’S TEMPTATION? Yes, to readers who enjoy very explicit paranormal erotica, romantic relationships, and a supernatural world with mystery and danger. If you’re looking for a fantasy romance where the romance and fantasy plot share more of the spotlight, this one may feel more focused on the erotica. I’d recommend reading Savannah’s Awakening first, since this book builds on Savannah’s journey and the world introduced there.

MY FINAL VERDICT: Savannah’s Temptation was a noticeable improvement over the first book for me. The paranormal story had more depth, Savannah had more room to grow, and I finally got more of the mystery I knew was hiding underneath all that spice. The amount of sexual content and some repetition still slowed the story down. More breathing room for the paranormal plot, Savannah’s development, and the relationships—along with a better balance between those parts and the intimate scenes—could have made this a five-star read. Still, I finished wanting to continue, and that’s a pretty big difference.

Apparently nobody bought Savannah and company the fire extinguisher I requested after Book One. But this time, thankfully, there was a much better story burning right alongside them. 😂🔥🖤
