These Terms & Conditions explain the rules for using SassyReviews.com, including the blog, user accounts, comments, Sassy’s Nook and other community forums, the shop, ARC submission features, and other content or services available through the website. By accessing or using SassyReviews.com, creating an account, making a purchase, participating in the community, submitting content, or submitting an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) for review, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
If you do not agree with these Terms & Conditions, please do not use features of the website that require you to accept them.
SASSY REVIEWS IS INTENDED FOR ADULTS — 18+:
SassyReviews.com is intended for adults who are at least 18 years of age. The books discussed and reviewed here may contain explicit sexual content, violence, dark romance, disturbing themes, strong language, morally questionable characters, and other material intended for mature audiences. By creating an account, participating in the community forum, submitting comments or other content, purchasing products, or submitting an ARC through SassyReviews.com, you represent that you are at least 18 years old. I cannot control who casually reads publicly accessible portions of the internet, but interactive features and services provided through SassyReviews.com are intended for adults.
MY REVIEWS ARE MY OPINIONS:
Everything you read in a Sassy Reviews book review represents my personal opinion and reading experience. A rating is not an objective declaration of a book’s universal quality because books simply do not work that way. What emotionally destroys me in the best possible way may make another reader wonder whether we even read the same book.
My reviews are intended to be honest, thoughtful, and constructive. I may discuss what I loved, what frustrated me, what worked, what did not, and what I believe could have made a story stronger. That commentary represents my opinion and should be understood as such.
Authors, publishers, publicists, readers, retailers, and other parties may disagree with my reviews. I will not intentionally publish information that I know to be false about an author or another person. Criticism is directed toward the book and my experience reading it, not used as an excuse to personally attack the person who wrote it. Honesty is the entire foundation of Sassy Reviews, but honesty and cruelty are not the same thing. I do not believe you have to tear someone down in order to explain why their book did not work for you.
I DO NOT CHARGE FOR BOOK REVIEWS:
Sassy Reviews does not and will not charge authors or publishers for book reviews. My reviews, ratings, and opinions are not for sale. Receiving a complimentary ARC does not guarantee that I will review the book, give it a particular rating, or provide favorable coverage. If I accept an ARC for review, what I write about it will reflect my genuine reading experience.
Sassy Reviews may separately participate in affiliate programs, advertising, sponsored content, promotional placements, or other opportunities that help support the website. Those relationships do not purchase my opinion and will be disclosed when appropriate.

ARC SUBMISSIONS:
Authors, publishers, publicists, and authorized representatives may submit Advance Reader Copies to Sassy Reviews for consideration for review.
ARCs may be provided as physical books or electronically in PDF or EPUB format. Submitting an ARC does not guarantee acceptance, coverage, a particular review date, a positive review, or a specific rating unless I have expressly agreed otherwise in writing. By submitting an ARC, you represent that you are the author, publisher, rights holder, or an authorized representative with the legal authority to provide the material to me for review.
You retain ownership of the book and the intellectual property contained within it. Providing an ARC to Sassy Reviews does not transfer ownership of the author’s manuscript, characters, story, artwork, or other underlying intellectual property to me. Likewise, providing an ARC does not give the person submitting it ownership or editorial control over the review I independently create after reading it.
I will not intentionally sell, redistribute, reproduce, upload, forward, lend, give away, or otherwise distribute submitted ARCs to other readers or unauthorized third parties. Electronic ARC files are for my personal review use, and physical ARCs will not be sold, donated, given away, or redistributed.
I will also make reasonable efforts to respect legitimate publication embargoes and confidential or unreleased information communicated to me as part of the ARC submission.
MY RIGHT TO PUBLISH AN HONEST ARC REVIEW:
By voluntarily submitting or providing an ARC to Sassy Reviews for review, you understand that I may form and publicly express an opinion about that book.
If I choose to review an ARC, I reserve the right to publish or cross-post my original review on SassyReviews.com and/or other book-review and retail platforms where I maintain a reviewer presence, including Goodreads and Amazon, subject to the rules and policies of those platforms.
This applies whether the review is positive, negative, mixed, three stars, five stars, or somewhere in that wonderfully complicated area where I loved half the book and wanted to have a serious conversation with the other half.
An author, publisher, publicist, or representative may contact me if they believe a review contains a genuine factual error, such as an incorrect character name, publication detail, or similar mistake. I am happy to correct legitimate factual errors.
A difference of opinion, however, is not a factual error. I am not obligated to remove, suppress, rewrite, withhold, or increase the rating of an honest review because an author, publisher, representative, or another person disagrees with my opinion or is unhappy with the rating.

OWNERSHIP OF SASSY REVIEWS CONTENT:
Unless otherwise indicated, the original content I create for SassyReviews.com belongs to Sassy Reviews. This includes my original book reviews, articles, blog posts, written commentary, original graphics, photographs I create, branding elements, page copy, interview questions, Author Spotlight content created by me, rating explanations, and other original material published on the website.
You are absolutely welcome to share links to my reviews and posts. In fact, please do. If something you found here sends another reader down a six-book rabbit hole they absolutely did not have time for, I consider that a successful referral.
What you may not do is copy an entire review, article, blog post, graphic, photograph, or substantial portion of my original content and republish it on another website, social media account, newsletter, book listing, promotional material, or other platform without permission or present my work as your own.
Giving credit does not automatically give someone permission to reproduce an entire piece of copyrighted content.
Brief quotations from my reviews may be used for legitimate promotional or discussion purposes when they are accurately quoted, clearly attributed to Sassy Reviews, and not presented in a misleading way. A quote may not be edited or removed from context in a manner that materially changes what I actually said.

BOOK COVERS, AUTHOR MATERIALS & THIRD-PARTY CONTENT:
Book covers, author photographs, publisher graphics, book descriptions, excerpts, trademarks, and other materials belonging to authors, publishers, retailers, or other rights holders remain the property of their respective owners.
When those materials appear on SassyReviews.com, they may be used for purposes such as reviewing, discussing, identifying, promoting, or providing information about a book or author. Their appearance on SassyReviews.com does not mean I claim ownership of them.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHTS, INTERVIEWS & SUBMITTED MATERIAL:
Authors or other guests may occasionally provide answers, photographs, biographies, book information, links, quotes, or other materials for features such as Author Spotlights, interviews, or other promotional features.
By voluntarily submitting material for publication on SassyReviews.com, you represent that you have the right to provide that material and grant Sassy Reviews permission to display, format, edit for reasonable spelling, grammar, readability, or layout purposes, and publish it in connection with the feature for which it was submitted.
I will not intentionally rewrite an author’s answers in a way that changes their meaning or makes them say something they did not say. The entire point of an Author Spotlight is to hear from the author—not put words in their mouth.
Unless otherwise agreed, the person who created submitted material retains whatever ownership rights they otherwise have in that material.
USER ACCOUNTS:
Registered users who are at least 18 years old may create an account on SassyReviews.com to make purchases through the shop, comment on book reviews and other posts, participate in Sassy’s Nook and other community forums, and access additional registered-user features that may become available.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity conducted through your account. If you believe someone has accessed your account without permission, please contact Sassy Reviews as soon as reasonably possible.
You may not impersonate another person, create an account using information you are not authorized to use, attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user’s account, interfere with website security, or use an account for fraudulent, unlawful, abusive, or malicious purposes.
Your account gives you a voice in this community. It does not give you permission to use that voice to deliberately hurt someone else.
COMMENTS, SASSY’S NOOK & COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION:
Sassy Reviews was created as a place where readers can have fun talking about something we all have in common: books.
We are here to obsess over characters, debate theories, recover from cliffhangers, recommend our latest five-star reads, complain about books that drove us crazy, discuss plot twists, question fictional decision-making skills, and occasionally wonder why our favorite characters desperately need therapy while simultaneously admitting that we would probably still date them.
Different opinions are not only allowed here; they are encouraged.
You are allowed to dislike a book I loved. You are allowed to give a book one star when someone else gave it five. You may disagree with another reader, criticize a storyline, discuss problems with pacing or character development, question an author’s creative choices, or explain exactly why a book simply did not work for you.
What you may not do is turn criticism of a book into an excuse to deliberately demean, humiliate, harass, or attack the person who wrote it or another person participating in the discussion.
There is an important difference between saying, “I really struggled with the writing in this book, and here is why,” and using a review or forum discussion as an opportunity to insult, ridicule, or tear down the author personally. The first is criticism. The second is cruelty.
Criticism shared through SassyReviews.com should always be constructive, not cruel or demeaning.
You do not have to sugarcoat your opinion, pretend you enjoyed something you did not, or hand out participation trophies disguised as five-star ratings. Honest criticism is welcome here. What I ask is that you explain what did not work for you without forgetting that an actual human being created the book you are discussing.
That is the same standard I hold myself to in my own reviews, and it is the standard I expect within this community.
ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HATE SPEECH & TARGETED ABUSE:
Sassy Reviews does not tolerate hate speech. Accounts, comments, forum posts, usernames, profile content, or other submissions may not be used to attack, demean, threaten, harass, or promote hatred against another person or group based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or another characteristic protected by applicable law.
SassyReviews.com may not be used for bullying, threats, stalking, doxxing, targeted harassment, encouraging others to harass someone, deliberately publishing another person’s private information, or organizing attacks against authors, readers, reviewers, community members, or anyone else.
And no, putting “this is just my opinion” at the end of something deliberately hateful does not magically make it acceptable. I do not promote that kind of behavior on Sassy Reviews, I will not participate in it, and I will not provide a platform for someone else to use my website to do it either.
AUTHORS ARE PEOPLE, TOO:
Sassy Reviews is built around books, which means authors are naturally going to be discussed. Their writing, characters, plots, pacing, worldbuilding, tropes, endings, and other aspects of their published work are all fair subjects for discussion and criticism.
Personal cruelty toward the author is not. You may say you hated the ending. You may explain why the characters felt underdeveloped. You may criticize repetitive writing, confusing worldbuilding, pacing problems, plot holes, or anything else that affected your reading experience. You may even decide the book was terrible and explain exactly why you felt that way.
What you may not do is use Sassy Reviews as a platform to humiliate the author, attack their appearance, family, private life, identity, or personal worth, send other users after them, or otherwise turn criticism of their work into targeted personal abuse. A bad reading experience does not require a personal vendetta.
I want authors to know that Sassy Reviews will always make room for honest criticism—including criticism they may not particularly enjoy reading—but I will not make room for cruelty masquerading as criticism.
DISAGREE WITHOUT BECOMING THE PROBLEM:
The same respect applies to other readers.
Nobody here is required to agree with anyone else’s opinion. Books are subjective, and that is half the fun of discussing them. One person’s five-star masterpiece is another person’s “What the hell did I just read?” and somehow both people can be completely sincere.
Debate the book. Debate the theory. Debate whether the villain deserved redemption. Debate whether that morally black MMC is secretly a cinnamon roll or simply needs several years of court-ordered therapy.
Do not attack each other.
Disagreement becomes a problem when it turns into name-calling, threats, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, deliberate humiliation, or repeated personal attacks.
The house rule really is that simple:
Hate the books, not each other.
CONTENT YOU POST:
You retain ownership of original content you create and post through comments, forum discussions, or other community features.
By voluntarily posting content publicly on SassyReviews.com, you give Sassy Reviews permission to host, store, display, and technically reproduce that content as reasonably necessary to operate the website and make your contribution available to the community. This permission does not transfer ownership of your original content to Sassy Reviews.
You are responsible for what you post and represent that you have the right to share it. You may not upload or publish material you do not have permission to distribute, including pirated ebooks, unauthorized ARC files, substantial copyrighted text belonging to another person, or another person’s private information.
And because this is a community built around books and supporting the people who create them, this deserves to be especially clear: do not upload, share, request, trade, sell, or distribute pirated ebooks or unauthorized ARC files through SassyReviews.com.
Supporting authors while stealing their books would be a pretty impressive contradiction, and we are not doing that here.
SPOILERS:
Published reviews on SassyReviews.com generally aim to avoid major spoilers unless a review or discussion is clearly identified otherwise. Community discussions, however, may contain spoilers depending on the forum section or topic.
Sassy’s Nook includes areas specifically intended for conversations about theories, predictions, plot twists, cliffhangers, emotional damage, and other subjects that may be impossible to discuss without revealing parts of a book.
When spoiler warnings, forum categories, or designated spoiler-friendly areas are available, please use them appropriately and be considerate of readers who may not have finished the book.
At the same time, if you willingly enter a discussion devoted to Plot Twists & Cliffhangers, I cannot promise the plot twist will still be a surprise when you leave. 😂
COMMUNITY MODERATION & ENFORCEMENT:
I reserve the right to moderate comments, forum discussions, usernames, profiles, and other user-submitted content in order to protect SassyReviews.com and maintain the kind of community it was created to be.
Content containing hate speech, targeted harassment, credible threats, bullying, doxxing, discriminatory abuse, malicious spam, unlawful material, piracy, deliberate personal attacks, or other serious violations of these Terms may be removed. Accounts responsible for that content may be warned, restricted, suspended, or permanently terminated depending on the nature, severity, and frequency of the violation.
Repeatedly using SassyReviews.com to personally attack authors or other community members may result in account restrictions or termination even when an individual comment does not independently rise to the level of hate speech or a threat.
I reserve the right to distinguish between genuine criticism and behavior whose primary purpose appears to be attacking, humiliating, harassing, or provoking another person. Context matters.
Moderation is not censorship of an unfavorable book opinion. I will not remove your comment simply because you hated a book, disagreed with my review, gave something one star, or expressed constructive criticism that someone else does not like. Honest disagreement belongs here. Cruelty does not.

Prices, product descriptions, and availability may change. I make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate, but occasional errors can happen. I reserve the right to correct genuine pricing, description, inventory, or technical errors and, when necessary, cancel or refund an affected order.
Orders may also be refused or canceled when reasonably necessary because of suspected fraud, unauthorized payment activity, inventory problems, website errors, or other legitimate reasons.
