Welcome to Sassy Reviews. These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of SassyReviews.com and the content, features, products, services, and community spaces available through the website. They apply to visitors, registered readers and authors, customers, community members, authors, publishers, publicists, contributors, and anyone else who accesses or uses Sassy Reviews.

These Terms cover the Sassy Reviews blog and editorial content, book reviews and ratings, the Bookshelf, Sassy’s Nook, member accounts and profiles, user-created bookshelves, reviews, ratings, comments and discussions, Author Spotlights and other submitted features, book and ARC submissions, giveaways and promotions, email subscriptions, the Sassy Reviews shop, Date Night with a Book, and other current or future features offered through the website.

By accessing or using SassyReviews.com, creating an account, submitting or publishing content, making a purchase, entering a giveaway, submitting materials, or otherwise using a feature or service provided through the website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and any additional policies or rules that apply to the particular feature you are using.

These Terms should be read together with the Sassy Reviews Privacy PolicyPrivacy Policy, Review PolicyReview Policy, ARC PolicyARC Policy, and any additional shop, giveaway, promotion, submission, or feature-specific terms displayed on the website. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use features of SassyReviews.com that require your agreement to them.

SASSY REVIEWS IS FOR ADULTS — 18+

SassyReviews.com is intended for adults who are 18 years of age or older. The books, reviews, discussions, community content, and other material found throughout the site may openly address sexually explicit content, violence, Dark Romance, disturbing subject matter, strong language, abuse, trauma, sensitive topics, and other mature themes intended for adult audiences.

I make reasonable efforts to clearly identify Sassy Reviews as an adult-oriented book community. However, Sassy Reviews does not currently use an automated or mandatory age-verification service at registration. As an independently operated website committed to keeping its community, resources, and opportunities free for both readers and authors, I am continuing to explore practical age-verification options that can provide additional safeguards without placing the cost of participation on its members.

Anyone who creates an account or actively participates in Sassy Reviews is required to truthfully represent that they are at least 18 years old. By registering for an account or participating in the community, you represent and confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

By choosing to access or participate in Sassy Reviews, you acknowledge that sexually explicit material, dark themes, sensitive subjects, mature discussions, spoilers, and other content you may personally find uncomfortable, disturbing, offensive, or triggering may be discussed openly throughout the site. You choose to proceed with that understanding and accept responsibility for deciding what content you are comfortable viewing, reading, or participating in.

Sassy Reviews cannot guarantee that every mature topic, trigger, or potentially sensitive subject will be individually identified or accompanied by a content warning, particularly within community discussions and other user-generated content. While reasonable efforts may be made to provide warnings where appropriate, you are ultimately responsible for determining what material is appropriate for you.

Sassy Reviews cannot completely control who accesses publicly available portions of the internet. That does not change the intended adult audience of this website or the requirement that anyone creating an account or actively participating in its community be at least 18 years old.

AGE VERIFICATION & UNDERAGE ACCOUNTS

Sassy Reviews does not currently verify identification as part of routine account registration. However, Sassy Reviews reserves the right to request reasonable proof of age if there is a legitimate reason to question whether a member is at least 18 years old.

Proof of age may include a valid government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license or identification card, or another reasonable age-verification method accepted by Sassy Reviews. Any personal information provided specifically for age verification will be used only for that purpose and handled in accordance with the Sassy Reviews Privacy Policy.

Failure or refusal to provide reasonable proof of age when requested may result in the account being suspended or permanently deleted and the associated email address being prohibited from registering or accessing another Sassy Reviews account. If Sassy Reviews determines or reasonably believes that an account belongs to someone under 18, the account may be terminated immediately.

Attempts to circumvent an age-related restriction, suspension, or termination, including creating another account or using a different email address after being removed for being underage, may result in additional accounts being terminated or blocked.

Sassy Reviews may introduce or change age-verification measures in the future as practical options become available. If those measures change what personal information is collected or processed, the applicable Terms and Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

ACCOUNTS & SASSY’S NOOK

Readers and authors who are at least 18 years old may create accounts to participate in Sassy Reviews. Depending on the features available, members may create profiles and bookshelves, publish ratings and reviews, leave comments, participate in discussions, interact through Sassy’s Nook, enter eligible activities and giveaways, make purchases, earn badges, and access other community features.

You are responsible for providing accurate information where reasonably required, maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials, and activity conducted through your account. You may not impersonate another person or organization, create an account using information you are not authorized to use, misrepresent your identity or age, attempt to access another member’s account, interfere with website or account security, create accounts to evade a restriction, suspension, termination, or ban, or use an account for fraudulent, unlawful, abusive, or malicious purposes.

Sassy’s Nook exists to give readers and authors a place to connect, talk about books, build bookshelves, publish reviews and ratings, exchange recommendations, participate in discussions, share bookish news and promotions where appropriate, and generally enjoy the fictional chaos together. Different opinions are not only allowed; they are part of the point. You may give five stars to a book I gave three, send somebody else’s favorite straight to your DNF pile, disagree with another member’s review, question an author’s creative choices, or defend your favorite fictional red flag with your whole chest.

The community is intended to encourage honest book discussion and interaction between readers and authors. Agreement is never required. Respect for the people participating in those conversations is.

COMMUNITY CONDUCT, BULLYING, HARASSMENT & HATE

There is one golden rule throughout the Sassy Reviews community: You can hate the book, but not each other.

Criticism of books, writing, characters, plots, pacing, world-building, relationships, tropes, endings, authorial choices, and other aspects of published work is welcome. Personal attacks against authors, readers, reviewers, or other community members are not.

Members may not use Sassy Reviews to engage in harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, intimidation, targeted abuse, discrimination, hate speech, doxxing, deliberate humiliation, malicious impersonation, fraud, or conduct intended primarily to threaten, harm, intimidate, or humiliate another person. You may not publish another person’s private or personally identifying information without authorization, encourage or organize harassment against another person, threaten violence, maliciously spam or target other members, or use Sassy Reviews to facilitate unlawful or abusive conduct.

Disagreement with another member’s opinion is never justification for harassment. Members may debate reviews, ratings, interpretations, theories, characters, tropes, endings, and just about anything else bookish, but disagreement must remain focused on the discussion rather than becoming an attack on the person participating in it.

Authors are welcome and encouraged to participate in Sassy Reviews, including designated spaces where they may share their news and promotions. Authors may respond to discussions and participate as members of the community, but they may not harass readers over reviews, pressure or intimidate members into changing ratings or opinions, retaliate against negative reviews, encourage others to target a reviewer, or otherwise attempt to silence legitimate criticism of their published work.

Likewise, readers are free to criticize an author’s published work, including strongly criticizing it, but criticism of a book does not create permission to attack an author personally. Discussion should remain relevant to the work and should not become attacks on an author’s appearance, family, private life, personal worth, or unrelated personal matters.

Piracy and unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material are strictly prohibited. Members may not upload, request, trade, sell, distribute, link to for the purpose of unauthorized distribution, or otherwise facilitate access to pirated ebooks, stolen digital files, unauthorized ARCs, unpublished manuscripts, or other copyrighted material they do not have permission to distribute.

Community features may not be used to spam, manipulate ratings, artificially promote or attack a book or author, coordinate review bombing or rating manipulation, repeatedly publish substantially identical promotional material, conceal a commercial relationship in a misleading way, or otherwise manipulate Sassy Reviews or its community for deceptive, abusive, or fraudulent purposes.

MODERATION, SUSPENSION & ACCOUNT TERMINATION

Sassy Reviews reserves the right to moderate profiles, usernames, profile images, reviews, ratings, comments, discussions, promotional posts, and other user-generated content in order to enforce these Terms, protect members of the community, preserve the intended purpose of the website, address legal or security concerns, and respond to misuse of Sassy Reviews.

Content may be hidden, restricted, or removed when it violates these Terms, applicable law, intellectual-property rights, community rules, or the intended operation of a feature. Depending on the circumstances, Sassy Reviews may also restrict features, temporarily suspend an account, permanently terminate an account, prohibit an associated email address from creating another account, or take other reasonable measures necessary to protect the website and its community.

The appropriate response to a violation depends on its nature, severity, history, and potential harm. Sassy Reviews is not required to provide a warning before taking action and does not guarantee that every violation will receive the same response.

Personal attacks, targeted harassment, bullying, hate speech, credible threats, doxxing, piracy, or similarly serious abuse may result in immediate removal and permanent account termination without prior warning. There are no guaranteed warnings or second chances for attacking authors or other members of this community.

Attempts to evade a restriction, suspension, termination, or ban by creating another account, using another email address, impersonating another person, or otherwise circumventing an enforcement action may result in additional accounts being restricted or terminated.

Moderation of abusive conduct is not moderation of book opinions. Sassy Reviews will not remove an otherwise permitted review simply because it is negative, an author dislikes the rating, another reader disagrees with it, or someone believes the book deserved more stars.

You can debate opinions and be as passionate as you want. Just keep your criticism constructive and your opinions respectful.

PROFILES, REVIEWS & CONTENT YOU SHARE

Certain areas of Sassy Reviews are intentionally public. Depending on the features you choose to use, your username or display name, profile image, public profile information, bookshelf activity, ratings, reviews, comments, discussions, forum posts, badges, and other content you voluntarily publish may be visible to other members or the general public.

You are responsible for deciding what information you make public. Do not publish information you do not want other people to view, save, copy, screenshot, quote, or share. Once you voluntarily make information or content public, Sassy Reviews cannot control what another person may do with it. Private account, contact, order, billing, shipping, age-verification, and similar information is handled separately under the Privacy Policy.

You retain ownership of original content you create and post through SassyReviews.com. By voluntarily submitting or publishing that content, however, you grant Sassy Reviews a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce as technically necessary, format, display, publish, and make that content available through SassyReviews.com for purposes of operating, maintaining, moderating, and providing the website and the feature in which you submitted it.

This does not transfer ownership of your original content to Sassy Reviews.

You represent that you own the content you submit or otherwise have the rights and permissions necessary to publish it and that your contribution does not violate another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other legal rights.

Reviews, ratings, comments, and opinions published by readers and authors represent the opinions of the individual members who posted them and do not necessarily represent the opinions of Sassy Reviews. Members are responsible for their own contributions and for the truthfulness of factual claims they make. Reviews should reflect genuine opinions and experiences and may not knowingly contain false factual allegations, impersonation, undisclosed paid manipulation, spam, harassment, or other prohibited content.

Sassy Reviews does not guarantee the accuracy, fairness, completeness, or reliability of every review, rating, comment, or opinion submitted by another member. An author’s disagreement with a member’s opinion does not, by itself, make that review a violation of these Terms.

Removing content or closing an account does not guarantee that every copy of previously public material will disappear. Content may have been shared by others, cached by search engines or other systems, included in backups, or retained where reasonably necessary for legal, security, administrative, or recordkeeping purposes. Public contributions may also remain where reasonably necessary to preserve the structure and context of existing discussions, subject to applicable law and the Privacy Policy.

SPOILERS, REVIEWS & EDITORIAL CONTENT

Official Sassy Reviews book reviews generally avoid major spoilers unless they are clearly identified. Community spaces are different. Sassy’s Nook may include discussions about theories, predictions, endings, plot twists, betrayals, cliffhangers, character deaths, and other subjects that inherently involve spoilers.

Members should use available spoiler warnings and designated spoiler-friendly areas appropriately, but Sassy Reviews cannot guarantee that another member will never post an unmarked spoiler. If you voluntarily enter a clearly identified spoiler discussion, you accept the possibility that you may encounter spoilers.

Official reviews, ratings, spice ratings, recommendations, commentary, book discussions, and other editorial content created by Sassy Reviews represent personal opinions and experiences. Books are subjective. A five-star Sassy Review does not guarantee that you will love a book, and a low rating does not mean another reader cannot adore it.

Content warnings and information about spice, mature themes, or potentially sensitive material may be provided when reasonably helpful, but Sassy Reviews cannot guarantee that every possible trigger, sensitivity, objectionable subject, or type of content will be identified. Additional information about how Sassy Reviews reviews and rates books and bookish items is provided in the Review Policy.

BOOKS, ARCS, AUTHOR SPOTLIGHTS & OTHER SUBMISSIONS

Authors, publishers, publicists, and authorized representatives may submit books or Advance Reader Copies for consideration where submissions are being accepted. Submission does not guarantee acceptance, completion, publication of a review, coverage by a particular date, a particular rating, or a positive opinion. The person submitting the material represents that they have authority to provide it for the intended purpose.

Providing a book or ARC does not transfer ownership of the manuscript, characters, story, artwork, or other underlying intellectual property to Sassy Reviews, and it does not give the submitting party ownership of, approval rights over, or editorial control over an independent Sassy Reviews review.

Official Sassy Reviews reviews, ratings, and opinions are not for sale.

ARC and complimentary-copy submissions are also governed by the separate Sassy Reviews ARC Policy, which provides additional information about how submitted materials are handled, confidentiality, disclosures, and review independence.

Authors, publishers, creators, guests, and other participants may also voluntarily submit biographies, photographs, interview or questionnaire responses, book information, cover images, links, promotional materials, announcements, quotes, or other material for Author Spotlights, Authors to Watch, bookish news, cover reveals, interviews, promotional features, collaborations, and similar opportunities.

By submitting material for publication, you represent that you own the material or have permission to provide it and authorize Sassy Reviews to use it for the feature for which it was submitted. Sassy Reviews may host, format, resize, display, publish, and make reasonable edits for spelling, grammar, readability, accessibility, formatting, or layout but will not intentionally edit a participant’s words in a manner that materially changes their meaning. Unless otherwise agreed, ownership of submitted material remains with its original rights holder.

Submitting materials does not guarantee that a feature will be accepted, published, promoted, remain available indefinitely, or appear on a particular date unless Sassy Reviews expressly agrees otherwise.

Sassy Reviews may also feature new releases, preorders, cover reveals, special editions, author events, signings, giveaways, bookish products, collaborations, or other news and promotional information. Information supplied by third parties may be published based on what they provide, and those parties remain responsible for the accuracy of their dates, prices, availability, product descriptions, event details, claims, and other supplied information.

Sassy Reviews may correct or update information when an error becomes known but cannot guarantee that every third-party announcement will remain current indefinitely. Publication of promotional material or a feature does not automatically constitute an endorsement of every product, service, statement, or action associated with the person or organization featured.

SHOP, DATE NIGHT WITH A BOOK, PAYMENTS & ORDERS

The Sassy Reviews shop may offer books, bookish products, curated items, Date Night with a Book offerings, merchandise, gift items, and other products made available from time to time.

Product descriptions, photographs, prices, quantities, availability, shipping information, and other details will be presented as accurately as reasonably possible. However, colors, appearance, packaging, editions, or other characteristics may vary slightly because of screens, manufacturers, available inventory, or the nature of handmade or curated products.

Prices and availability may change before an order is completed. Sassy Reviews reserves the right to correct genuine pricing, inventory, description, typographical, or technical errors. If an error materially affects an order already placed, Sassy Reviews may contact the customer, cancel the affected portion of the order, or issue an appropriate refund. Orders may also be refused or canceled because of suspected fraud, unauthorized payment activity, inventory problems, duplicate orders, inability to fulfill an order, violation of these Terms, or another legitimate reason.

Date Night with a Book is a curated shop offering and may include books and additional bookish items selected and packaged as part of the experience. Unless a product listing expressly promises a particular title, edition, author, trope, genre, item, or characteristic, individual contents may vary according to the offering purchased and available inventory. Where preferences or selections are offered, reasonable efforts will be made to honor them, but a particular item cannot be guaranteed unless the listing specifically states that it is guaranteed.

ARCs and complimentary review copies entrusted to Sassy Reviews for review are never sold, used as shop inventory, or redistributed through Date Night with a Book.

Proceeds from Date Night with a Book go directly back into supporting Sassy Reviews, including website upkeep, resources, community features, giveaways, and other services provided free to readers and authors.

The Sassy Reviews shop is powered by WooCommerce, and payments may be processed through WooPayments, PayPal, or other payment providers made available at checkout. By submitting payment information, you represent that you are authorized to use the selected payment method and authorize the applicable processor to complete the transaction. Payment providers are independent services and may maintain their own terms, privacy policies, fraud-prevention procedures, and requirements. Information concerning order and payment-related personal information is addressed in the Privacy Policy.

Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate billing and shipping information. Shipping methods, costs, geographic limitations, processing times, and estimated delivery windows may vary by product and will be displayed or communicated where applicable. Unless expressly guaranteed, processing and delivery dates are estimates. Sassy Reviews is not responsible for carrier delays, weather, customs, service disruptions, or other delivery circumstances outside its reasonable control.

If an order is returned, delayed, lost, or undeliverable because a customer supplied an incorrect or incomplete address, additional shipping costs may apply where permitted by law.

Returns, cancellations, exchanges, damaged-item claims, and refunds may vary according to the product purchased. Any return, refund, cancellation, or shipping conditions displayed through the shop or on the applicable product listing at the time of purchase form part of that transaction. Certain personalized, customized, digital, final-sale, opened, used, perishable, or otherwise identified products may be ineligible for return where permitted by law. Approved refunds will generally be returned through the original payment method or handled as otherwise reasonably appropriate.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to eliminate consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

GIVEAWAYS, CONTESTS & PROMOTIONS

Sassy Reviews may offer giveaways, contests, drawings, challenges, and other promotional activities. Unless specific official rules state otherwise, participation is limited to individuals who are at least 18 years old and meet any location, timing, account, or other eligibility requirements stated for the particular promotion. No purchase is necessary to enter a chance-based giveaway, and making a purchase will not improve your odds of winning.

Individual promotions may have additional rules covering eligibility, entry periods and methods, prizes, winner selection, claiming requirements, shipping limitations, or other conditions. Those rules form part of these Terms for the applicable promotion.

Participants are responsible for providing accurate information, and entries obtained through fraud, automated abuse, duplicate-account manipulation, or violation of applicable rules may be disqualified. Winners may be required to respond within a stated period and provide information reasonably necessary to verify eligibility and deliver a prize. Failure to respond or provide required information may result in forfeiture and selection of another winner where permitted.

Unless otherwise stated, prizes have no cash alternative and are not transferable. Sassy Reviews may substitute an advertised prize with an item of reasonably comparable value if the original becomes unavailable for reasons outside its reasonable control, where permitted by law.

Information collected for administering giveaways or delivering prizes is handled as explained in the Privacy Policy and any applicable giveaway rules.

AFFILIATE LINKS, SPONSORED CONTENT & THIRD PARTIES

SassyReviews.com may contain affiliate links to books, retailers, products, services, or other resources. If you click an affiliate link and make a qualifying purchase, Sassy Reviews may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Sassy Reviews may also occasionally publish advertising, sponsored content, paid promotional placements, collaborations, or other compensated content separate from independent reviews. Material relationships will be disclosed where required. Sassy Reviews reserves the right to decline advertising, sponsorships, collaborations, promotions, or other commercial opportunities that are not considered an appropriate fit for the website or community.

SassyReviews.com may link to retailers, social-media platforms, authors, publishers, event providers, payment processors, products, services, or other websites operated independently from Sassy Reviews. Sassy Reviews does not control the content, security, availability, prices, products, services, terms, privacy practices, fulfillment, or conduct of independent third parties.

Affiliate commissions, sponsorships, advertisements, promotional payments, gifts, or other compensation do not purchase a favorable Sassy Reviews review, guaranteed rating, recommendation, or positive personal opinion. A link, mention, listing, feature, or affiliate relationship does not necessarily constitute endorsement of everything associated with that third party. Once you leave SassyReviews.com or transact directly with an independent provider, that provider’s applicable terms and policies govern your interaction.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Unless otherwise stated, original content created by Sassy Reviews is owned by Sassy Reviews and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. This includes original reviews, articles, blog posts, written commentary, photographs created by Sassy Reviews, graphics, website copy, branding elements, logos, rating explanations, interview questions, editorial material, and other original content.

You are welcome to share links to Sassy Reviews content. Brief portions of original reviews or commentary may also be quoted for legitimate discussion or promotional purposes when the quotation is accurate, reasonably limited, clearly attributed to Sassy Reviews, and not edited or presented in a manner that materially misrepresents what was originally said.

You may not copy, scrape, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, commercially exploit, or present as your own an entire review, article, graphic, photograph, page, database, collection, or substantial portion of original Sassy Reviews content without permission, except where otherwise permitted by law.

Giving credit does not, by itself, create permission to reproduce an entire copyrighted work.

Book covers, author photographs, publisher artwork, promotional graphics, book descriptions, excerpts, trademarks, logos, product photographs, and images of bookish merchandise or other items remain the property of their respective authors, publishers, photographers, artists, retailers, manufacturers, creators, or other rights holders. Their appearance on SassyReviews.com does not mean that Sassy Reviews claims ownership of those materials.

Sassy Reviews may display book covers and other author- or publisher-provided images in connection with reviews, Author Spotlights, cover reveals, release announcements, preorder features, bookish news, giveaways, promotional features, collaborations, and other editorial coverage. Whenever reasonably possible, Sassy Reviews makes every effort to ensure that the author, publisher, publicist, or other authorized representative is aware of and approves the use of a book cover or other promotional image before it is published on the site.

Where an author, publisher, publicist, creator, or other authorized representative directly provides a book cover, author photograph, promotional graphic, product image, or other material for a review, Spotlight, announcement, submission, collaboration, or other feature, that person represents that they have the right to provide the material and authorizes Sassy Reviews to display and use it for the purpose for which it was submitted, unless otherwise agreed.

Images of bookish items, special editions, merchandise, reading accessories, subscription products, companion books, or other products may also appear in reviews, recommendations, news posts, affiliate content, collaborations, or other bookish coverage. These images may consist of photographs created by Sassy Reviews, images supplied by an author, publisher, creator, retailer, manufacturer, or other authorized rights holder, or other images used with permission or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. Ownership of third-party images remains with the applicable rights holder.

Sassy Reviews will make reasonable efforts to identify or credit third-party materials where appropriate and practical. If you are a rights holder and believe that a book cover, author photograph, promotional graphic, product image, bookish-item image, or other material appearing on SassyReviews.com has been used without proper authorization or attribution, please contact sassy@sassyreviews.com with enough information to identify the material and your rights in it so the concern can be reviewed promptly.

WEBSITE AVAILABILITY, DISCLAIMERS & LIABILITY

Sassy Reviews makes reasonable efforts to keep the website functioning properly but cannot guarantee uninterrupted, continuous, secure, or error-free access. Features may be added, changed, updated, restricted, suspended, redesigned, or discontinued, and the website may experience downtime because of maintenance, updates, hosting issues, software conflicts, security concerns, third-party outages, or circumstances outside Sassy Reviews’ reasonable control.

Sassy Reviews does not guarantee that any particular free community feature, account feature, discussion, badge, bookshelf tool, promotional opportunity, or other non-purchased feature will remain available indefinitely or continue in exactly its current form.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SassyReviews.com and its free content, community features, information, and services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties except those that cannot legally be excluded. Sassy Reviews does not guarantee that every piece of information will always be complete, current, accurate, suitable for every purpose, or free from error; that the website will operate without interruption; or that user-generated or third-party content will always be accurate or reliable.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you are responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of SassyReviews.com, material violation of these Terms, content you submit in violation of another person’s rights, or infringement of another person’s intellectual-property, privacy, or other legal rights.
