SASSY'S REVIEW
❖This is where the larger Carnal Sanctuary story really started opening up for me. Savannah is learning more about her abilities, but she’s also beginning to question the supernatural history that Roman and others have accepted as fact. The more the story revealed about Lilith, Cain, Sophia, the Monad, and the forces behind them, the more I wanted to know how their histories connected—and what those connections meant for Savannah.
I especially enjoyed how the book brings ancient figures together with creation stories and beliefs from different cultures. Savannah starts asking whether familiar religious figures might be connected, how these powerful beings fit into the same history, and whether the stories everyone has relied on are the whole truth. I liked following her questions and seeing her think through these ideas instead of simply accepting Roman’s explanations. Once the pieces started piling up, I suddenly wanted to build a conspiracy wall. 😂
Savannah’s growth was another highlight for me. Her powers are developing, but she’s also thinking about the responsibility that comes with them. I liked seeing her form her own beliefs and challenge Roman when she sees things differently. Their different perspectives made their relationship more interesting, while the supporting characters and growing supernatural community made Astoria feel much more alive.
The part I wanted more of was the deeper exploration of all these ideas. The book introduces fascinating mythology, mystery, and character histories, but I sometimes wanted it to linger on them longer. I wanted to understand more about how the supernatural groups fit into this larger history, what the revelations mean for the characters, and where Savannah belongs in a world that seems much bigger than she knew. The story gave me plenty to wonder about, but I wanted more time with some of the answers.
As for the spice, absolutely nothing has changed. Nobody has finally decided to keep their pants on, and at this point I would probably be concerned if they did. 😂 It remains a solid five peppers and a major part of Carnal Sanctuary’s identity.
WOULD I RECOMMEND SAVANNAH’S DESIRES? Yes, especially to readers who enjoy high-spice paranormal romance, ancient mythology, supernatural mysteries, and characters who question what they’ve been told. Since this is the third book in Savannah and Roman’s story, I recommend reading the first two books before starting this one.
MY FINAL VERDICT: This was my strongest experience with Savannah and Roman’s main storyline so far. I loved watching Savannah become more independent in her thinking, and the mythology made me feel there was a much bigger world beyond Astoria waiting to be uncovered. I rated it four stars because I wanted more depth and follow-through with the mythology, mystery, and character histories. More time exploring how those discoveries affect Savannah and her place in the supernatural world could have made this a five-star read for me. I’m still left with plenty of questions—and, apparently, a conspiracy wall to build. 😂🖤📚
Final Book Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) | Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (5/5)
