At Sassy Reviews, I take your privacy seriously. I may be unapologetically nosy about fictional relationships, morally questionable characters, suspicious plot twists, and exactly why that man is carrying seventeen red flags, but your private personal information is none of my business beyond what I actually need to operate this website and provide the features you choose to use.

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you visit or use SassyReviews.com, why it may be collected, how it may be used, when it may need to be processed by the services that help operate the website, and what happens when you choose to share information publicly.

The short version is pretty simple: I collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate Sassy Reviews and provide the features, services, purchases, prizes, and accounts you choose to use. I do not sell your personal information.

There is, however, one very important distinction throughout this policy: information you give Sassy Reviews privately and information you choose to post publicly are not the same thing.

YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION STAYS PRIVATE

Information you provide privately to create or maintain an account, make a purchase, receive a prize, contact Sassy Reviews, submit a book or other material, or use another feature requiring personal information is collected because that information is necessary for a specific purpose. Depending on what you choose to do on the site, this may include your name, username, display name, email address, account information, billing or shipping address, order information, contact information, communications, and other information reasonably necessary to provide the feature or service you requested.

I do not collect personal information simply because I can, and I do not maintain a secret little dragon hoard of everybody’s personal details. Sassy Reviews does not sell, rent, trade, or provide your private personal information to advertisers, marketers, data brokers, authors, publishers, other members, or unrelated third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes. Your email address is not a product. Your account information is not a product. Your shipping address is definitely not a product. If you give Sassy Reviews private information because I need it to do something for you, I intend to keep that information connected to that purpose.

SASSY’S NOOK, USER PROFILES & PUBLIC INFORMATION

Sassy’s Nook is a community. Readers and authors can create profiles and bookshelves, rate books, write reviews, participate in discussions, leave comments, interact with other members, and use other community features available through the site. That means some information is intended to be public.

Depending on the feature and the information you choose to provide, your username or display name, profile information, profile image, bookshelf activity, ratings, reviews, comments, forum posts, discussions, and other content you voluntarily publish may be visible to other members or anyone visiting the website. Please think carefully about what you choose to put in a public area of Sassy Reviews. Do not post your home address, private email address, phone number, passwords, financial information, payment information, or anything else you would not want another person on the internet to see, save, copy, screenshot, or share.

Once you voluntarily make information public, I cannot guarantee what another person may do with it. Sassy Reviews can moderate the website and remove content when appropriate, but I cannot prevent another person from viewing, copying, saving, screenshotting, or sharing information that you chose to make publicly available before it was removed. We are here to overshare about fictional people. Please do not overshare the information someone would need to steal your identity.

Private information associated with your account—such as your private email address, password credentials, order information, billing information, or shipping address—does not automatically become public simply because you participate in Sassy’s Nook.

USER ACCOUNTS

Sassy Reviews is intended for adults who are at least 18 years old. Anyone creating an account must be at least 18. When you create an account, information such as your username, display name, email address, password credentials, profile information, and account activity may be collected or processed as necessary to create, secure, maintain, and provide your account.

Some profile information may be public if you choose to add it to a public-facing portion of your profile. Your login credentials and other private account information are not intended to be displayed publicly. You are responsible for protecting your password and login information, and you should contact Sassy Reviews if you believe someone has gained unauthorized access to your account.

REVIEWS, RATINGS, COMMENTS & COMMUNITY CONTENT

When you publish a review, rating, comment, forum post, discussion, or other community contribution, the content you submit and the username or display name associated with it may be publicly visible. Technical information associated with your activity, such as an IP address or browser information, may also be processed privately for spam prevention, moderation, fraud prevention, website security, troubleshooting, and protecting the community from abuse.

Public community content may remain visible as part of an existing discussion even if an account is later closed, subject to applicable law, site functionality, and Sassy Reviews policies. If you want something to remain private, do not put it in a public review, profile, comment, bookshelf, or discussion.

THE SASSY REVIEWS SHOP, ORDERS & PAYMENTS

The Sassy Reviews shop is powered by WooCommerce. When you place an order, information reasonably necessary to process, fulfill, deliver, support, refund, or otherwise manage that purchase may be collected or processed. This can include your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, order details, and other information necessary to complete the transaction.

Payments may be processed through WooPayments, PayPal, or other payment providers made available at checkout. The payment method you choose may require the applicable provider to collect or process payment, billing, transaction, device, or other information necessary to authorize the purchase, prevent fraud, issue refunds, resolve disputes, and meet financial or legal requirements.

Sassy Reviews does not intentionally collect or independently store your complete credit or debit card number for its own use. Payment information is handled through the payment method and processing technology you choose, and those providers process information according to their own privacy and security practices.

Your order, billing, and shipping information will not be published on Sassy Reviews or shared with other community members. It may, however, need to be processed by WooCommerce, payment providers such as WooPayments or PayPal, shipping carriers, fulfillment services, or other providers when reasonably necessary to complete the transaction you requested.

Order records may also need to be retained for customer service, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, refunds, or legal purposes.

GIVEAWAYS, CONTESTS & PRIZES

If Sassy Reviews hosts a giveaway, contest, drawing, or other promotion, I may need to collect information necessary to administer it and determine or contact the winner. If you win a physical item, I may need your name and shipping address because, unfortunately, I have yet to find a way to teleport books directly into someone’s house.

Information collected privately for prize fulfillment will be used for administering the giveaway and delivering the prize and will not be published simply because you won. If another company, author, publisher, or prize provider is responsible for shipping a prize directly to you, I will not provide your private shipping information to them without making that arrangement clear to you and obtaining any permission required before doing so. Winner names or usernames will only be publicly announced to the extent disclosed in the applicable giveaway rules or otherwise agreed to by the winner.

ARC REQUESTS, AUTHOR SUBMISSIONS & UNPUBLISHED MATERIAL

Authors, publishers, publicists, and authorized representatives may provide information and materials to Sassy Reviews in connection with ARC requests, Author Spotlights, review requests, or other site features. Contact information and unpublished materials submitted privately for those purposes will be treated as private and used to evaluate, manage, communicate about, or complete the applicable request.

Electronic materials may necessarily be transmitted, processed, backed up, or stored through the hosting, website, security, storage, or other technology services required to receive and maintain them. An unpublished ARC or manuscript entrusted to Sassy Reviews will not intentionally be sold, redistributed, uploaded, published, forwarded, lent, given away, or provided to another reader without authorization. EMAILS, SUBSCRIPTIONS & COMMUNICATIONS

If you voluntarily subscribe to Sassy Reviews emails, your email address and related subscription information may be used to send the communications you requested. You may unsubscribe from promotional or subscription emails using the unsubscribe option provided in those communications when available. Administrative or transactional emails related to your account, purchases, security, giveaway participation, submissions, or another service you requested may still be sent when reasonably necessary.

Your email address will not be sold, rented, traded, or provided to another company for its own marketing purposes. We all receive enough unwanted email without me volunteering your inbox for more.

CONTACT FORMS

When you contact Sassy Reviews through a form or other private communication, you may provide information such as your name, email address, subject, and message. That information may be used to respond to you, provide requested assistance, maintain appropriate records, prevent spam or abuse, and address the reason you contacted me. Please do not include highly sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary for your request.

INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY

Like most websites, SassyReviews.com and the technology used to operate it may automatically process certain technical information when you visit or interact with the site. I am interested in knowing whether the website works and which parts readers actually enjoy. I am not interested in building a personal-information catalog about everybody who wanders through the site.

I want to know whether people are actually using a feature before I spend another three days redesigning it. I do not need to know everything about the person clicking it.

I do not collect personal information just to have it, and I do not sell it.

Keeping your information private does not mean Sassy Reviews can operate without any service providers touching data behind the scenes. Websites unfortunately require considerably more than books, caffeine, and stubbornness to function.

Depending on the feature you use, information may need to be processed by services that provide website hosting, WordPress functionality, WooCommerce and other e-commerce functionality, payment processing such as WooPayments or PayPal, security and spam prevention, email delivery, backups or storage, shipping or fulfillment, and other technical services necessary to operate SassyReviews.com or provide something you requested. These providers may receive or process only the information reasonably necessary to perform their respective functions, subject to their own privacy practices and applicable agreements.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or a valid legal request; investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity; enforce site policies; resolve disputes; or protect the rights, safety, and security of Sassy Reviews, its users, or others. None of this changes the basic rule: Sassy Reviews does not sell your personal information or provide it to unrelated third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

Sassy Reviews does not control the privacy practices of independent websites and services. Once you leave SassyReviews.com or interact directly with another provider, that provider’s policies apply. Affiliate relationships do not change how Sassy Reviews treats your personal information, and affiliate commissions do not influence my reviews, ratings, or recommendations.

HOW LONG INFORMATION MAY BE KEPT

Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or for legitimate security, administrative, accounting, tax, dispute-resolution, fraud-prevention, recordkeeping, or legal purposes. Different information may need to be retained for different periods. Account information may remain while an account is active. Order records may need to be retained for accounting or tax purposes. Giveaway shipping information may be deleted when it is no longer reasonably needed to fulfill or document the prize. Communications may be retained when necessary to maintain appropriate records.

Public reviews, ratings, comments, discussions, and other community content may remain as part of the public site or an existing discussion even if an account is later closed, subject to applicable law and Sassy Reviews policies.

PROTECTING YOUR INFORMATION

I take reasonable administrative and technical measures to help protect private information handled through SassyReviews.com against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no website, database, internet transmission, or electronic storage system can guarantee absolute security. I will take reasonable precautions with information entrusted to Sassy Reviews, but I cannot promise that any electronic system will be completely immune from unauthorized access or security incidents.

If I become aware of a security incident involving personal information, I will take reasonable steps to address it and provide any notifications required by applicable law. And remember: these protections apply to information handled privately by the site. They cannot protect information you voluntarily choose to publish in a public profile, review, comment, forum post, discussion, or other public area.

YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES & REQUESTS

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights concerning personal information associated with you. These may include requesting access to certain information, correcting inaccurate information, requesting deletion of eligible information, or asking how certain information has been used or disclosed. You may also be able to update or remove certain information directly through your Sassy Reviews account.

Some information may need to be retained despite a deletion request when reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, tax, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legitimate purposes. I may need to take reasonable steps to verify that you are actually the person whose information is being requested before providing, changing, or deleting private information.

That is not me being difficult. It is me making sure some random internet gremlin cannot email me pretending to be you and ask for your information.

CALIFORNIA PRIVACY INFORMATION

California residents may have additional rights concerning their personal information under applicable California privacy laws. Depending on which laws apply, those rights may include rights relating to access, correction, deletion, disclosure, and the sale or sharing of personal information. Sassy Reviews does not sell personal information.

SASSY REVIEWS IS FOR ADULTS — 18+

SassyReviews.com is intended for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. The site discusses books that may contain explicit sexual content, violence, dark romance, mature themes, and other adult subject matter. Creating an account, participating in Sassy’s Nook, publishing community content, making purchases, submitting materials, and participating in other registered-user features are intended for adults who are at least 18.

Sassy Reviews does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If I become aware that someone under 18 has created an account or provided personal information in violation of this policy, reasonable steps may be taken to remove the information and close the account when appropriate. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

Sassy Reviews may update this Privacy Policy as the website grows, features change, services are added or removed, or legal requirements evolve. When material changes are made, the Last Updated date at the top of this page will be revised, and additional notice may be provided when appropriate.

Considering how frequently one of my ideas begins with “You know what would be cool?” and ends with an entirely new section of the website, checking this page occasionally is probably not the worst idea.
