SASSY'S REVIEW
❖I absolutely loved The Dark Lord’s Guide to Dating (and Other War Crimes)! Tiffany Hunt gave me a powerful, morally questionable Dark Lord who knows how to conquer kingdoms but has absolutely no idea how to handle romance, and a stubborn heroine who refuses to be intimidated by him. Between the hilarious banter, magical chaos, and unexpected romance, I was laughing throughout this entire book.
Kazimir Blackrose was exactly the kind of MMC I enjoy. He’s arrogant, possessive, ruthless, and completely accustomed to getting his way. Unfortunately for him, his experience commanding armies doesn’t translate particularly well to winning a woman’s heart. I loved watching him attempt to approach romance with the same confidence and questionable logic he uses to rule his kingdom. His internal dialogue was hilarious, especially when he was convinced his ridiculous decisions made perfect sense.
What I appreciated most about Kazimir was that Tiffany Hunt didn’t completely change his personality just because he fell in love. He’s still a Dark Lord with questionable morals, a commanding personality, and some rather unconventional ideas about relationships. We get to see his more vulnerable side as his feelings develop, but he never stops being the character who made me laugh in the first place.
Arabella was just as enjoyable. She’s intelligent, independent, stubborn, and has absolutely no problem questioning authority, even when that authority happens to be a powerful Dark Lord. I loved that she had her own ambitions and magical abilities and wasn’t simply waiting around for Kazimir to solve her problems. She challenges him, stands up for herself, and refuses to let his power dictate her decisions. Exactly the kind of FMC I appreciate!
Their chemistry and banter were easily two of my favorite parts of the book. Kazimir is used to giving orders, while Arabella has no intention of blindly following them. Their personalities clash in the most entertaining ways, and I loved watching their relationship develop as they gradually learned to understand and trust one another. Their differences didn’t simply disappear once feelings became involved, which made the romance even more enjoyable.
The dual POV was another highlight. Getting both perspectives made their interactions even funnier, especially when Kazimir’s interpretation of a situation was completely different from Arabella’s. I also loved the chapter titles. They fit the humor perfectly and added even more personality to the story.
Beyond the romance, I really enjoyed the fantasy elements. The dark magic, political intrigue, magical creatures, and larger conflicts gave the story plenty of substance. I appreciated that Arabella’s abilities and character development played an important role in the plot rather than everything revolving around Kazimir’s power. The supporting characters also added humor and helped make the world feel more complete.
The pacing worked really well for me. There was enough romance, magic, danger, and humor to keep me entertained without the story feeling rushed or unnecessarily drawn out. I especially appreciated that the relationship didn’t rely on constant misunderstandings or manufactured drama. Kazimir and Arabella had enough differences and challenges to work through without needing any of that.
There’s also plenty of sexual tension and spice. Kazimir and Arabella have great chemistry, and their intimate scenes are explicit, earning this one four peppers from me. I liked that the physical attraction was balanced with their emotional development, growing trust, and everything happening outside the romance.
What really made this book stand out for me was the humor. Tiffany Hunt managed to make Kazimir absolutely ridiculous in his attempts at romance without taking away the darker, dangerous side of his character. Arabella was the perfect match for him because she wasn’t afraid to challenge him, and their interactions had me laughing from beginning to end.
Would I recommend The Dark Lord’s Guide to Dating (and Other War Crimes)? Absolutely! If you enjoy humorous romantasy, morally gray or villainous MMCs, strong independent heroines, enemies-to-lovers tension, magical intrigue, entertaining banter, and plenty of spice, I highly recommend this one. Especially if you love a powerful, possessive MMC who can conquer kingdoms but can’t quite figure out how to win over the woman he wants.
My Final Verdict: An easy five-star read! I loved Kazimir’s outrageous personality, Arabella’s independence, their chemistry, and the constant humor. The dual POV made their relationship even more entertaining, while the magic, political intrigue, and character development gave the story plenty of substance. I genuinely enjoyed the pacing, romance, and fantasy elements, and I wouldn’t change much about this one. Tiffany Hunt gave me exactly the kind of funny, spicy, villainous romantasy I love reading.
Final Rating: ⭐ 5/5 Stars | 🌶️ 4/5 Peppers
